Arts

The Arts Department offers a variety of visual and performing arts classes and events for all ages and abilities.

Performing Arts - Dance

Our program exposes students to dance in a fun and educational environment with the goal of learning dance styles, physical health and generally having fun!  Our classes are taught with a performance focus. Students will learn the skills they need to perform on stage including: technique, confidence and stage presence.  Performances range from in-class family demonstrations at the end of each session to optional full scale performances.

Our comprehensive dance program is taught in a fun, positive, and non-competitive environment.  Classes include Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and our popular Dance! classes. Classes are offered for ages 2 – adult. Each unique class is developmentally appropriate, inspiring, and designed to be taken numerous times.

Foothills Dance Program presents an annual Nutcracker production open to all of our Ballet students ages 3 and older. Dancers will learn choreography and be a part of putting together a large ballet production. Our ballet will be performed in a full theater with costumes and sets. Make this a part of your holiday traditions!

Foothills Dance Program also presents a spring showcase for all our dancers ages 3 and older. This recital style performance brings dancers from all classes together to perform in a theater setting with costumes and under stage lights. Watch our dancers showcase what they have learned in their dance classes!

Visual Arts

The Visual Arts Program includes popular clay and art classes. Our classes allow expression of creative energy and personal skill advancement.

Teen & Adult Pottery are for all levels covering handbuilding and wheel throwing techniques in a fun social environment. Our Youth & Family clay classes include complex and creative clay sculptures.  Class offerings vary by season.

We are now offering retail and firing services designed for potters with previous experience in clay.  Clay, glazes, and tools are available for purchase.  Electric bisque and glaze firing services are available for mid-fire clay and glazes only. The Foothills Theatre Company was created to give a theatrical outlet for adults in the community and is made up of local writers, directors, actors, designers, and musicians.

Arts in the Parks

Arts in the Parks brings visual arts to the whole community by creating murals and art installations in Foothills Park & Recreation District’s parks and facilities, provides work and exposure to local artists, and further enhances the visual and performing arts programming offer by Foothills. The program began in 2020 as a way to give people an opportunity to enjoy art outdoors in the fresh air. Our community can now view several different Arts in the Parks installations in parks and facilities across the District.

Funding for this program is generously provided by the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District – SCFD.
