Concussion Training Information for Coaches and Skating Instructors

In an effort to expand understanding of the dangers of concussions, coaches are now mandated by the state to learn about head injuries, how to recognize when they occur, and how to respond. Foothills policy requires all volunteer coaches to be trained annually (free of charge) in the prevention and treatment of sports-related concussions and other head injuries among athletes. The Act also requires coaches to remove from play any athlete who is suspected of having a concussion, the athlete must have a written authorization from a health care provider in order to return to the activity.
