Recreational and family skating including public skating, learn to skate, stick & puck and learn to play hockey programs. Hockey leagues run year round for youth and adults.

Learn To Skate

Edge Skating Academy offers classes for ages 3 through adult.  Our comprehensive, ongoing method teaches everything from basic fundamentals to advanced skating skills with every class emphasizing mastering the individual elements. Our quality program provides a fun and positive experience that will instill a lifelong love of skating regardless of goals. Learn to Skate classes are the foundation for recreational and competitive skaters wishing to pursue Hockey, Figure Skating, Speedskating, or general skating enjoyment.

Class prices includes a 30-minute weekly class, skate rental, and a Public Session practice pass. Helmet, gloves and cold weather attire are strongly recommended.

Ice Skating and Classes

Our figure skating programs are offered for those skaters who have successfully completed Pre-Academy 3 (or with instructor approval) and range from the beginning figure skater to the more advance student. Freestyle sessions are available.

This is not a general public session.

Edge Figure Skating Academy Sessions and Classes

  • Available from the staff at the arena and is conducted during freestyle times or public sessions.
  • May be booked in 15-minute increments.  30-minute lessons are the most common.
  • Rates range from $35-$45 per 30 minutes with the rate based on the instructor’s background and qualifications.
  • Rates are payable directly to the instructor at the time of the lesson and do not include the cost of ice time or skate rental.
  • Skaters must pay for ice time before their lesson.

Pre-Hockey:  Develops the speed, balance and coordination a player needs for future success in the game. Hockey skates and a HECC approved hockey helmet are required. All classes are taught without the use of stick and puck.

Hockey Prep Program: Designed as the next step for hockey players who complete Pre-Hockey, the Hockey Prep Program transitions skaters from Learn to Skate to the next step of player development in a positive and fun team environment. This comprehensive program includes development of fundamental hockey skating skills as well as introductory stick and puck handling concepts in order to maximize player development. Full hockey gear is required for this class.

Summer season runs mid-May through mid-August. 10 games including single elimination playoff to determine league champions.  Summer Season Rules

Winter season runs mid-September through the end of March. 20 games guaranteed including double elimination playoff to determine league champions. Winter Season Rules

The Over 40 Adult Draft Hockey League runs fall, winter and summer with 10 game seasons. All participants must be over 40 years of age. Players sign up as individuals and then drafted on to teams. This social league is based on the criteria of age and not skill.

Tournaments – Colorado Classic Adult Hockey Tournament – end of July annually, 3 game guarantee.

It is the responsibility of the players, coaches, and team captains to understand and abide by all of the rules and regulations of this league.

For Youth and Adult Leagues: All players must register with USA Hockey. To register go to www.usahockey.com and click on “registration on-line” The cost is $30 this insurance fee is independent of the EAHL fee.

Edge Skating Academy offers classes in beginner through advanced for ages 3 through adult, teaching the basics of skating as well as skills for hockey and figure skating. We utilize a progressive curriculum that builds on itself in an environment that is safe, fun and encourages growth. Use the model below to view the progression of classes based on age and interest.  Begin your skating journey in the level 1, age-appropriate class.
