Park Description
This park is mostly irrigated bluegrass. Powderhorn Park features 2 championship sized soccer fields. These fields are called the “Rod Palmer Soccer Fields”.

Park History
This park was acquired in 1983. A parking lot was built in 1999 to accommodate soccer traffic. A park shelter and additional irrigation of the Coal Mine frontage were added as part of the November 2000 bond election.
Rod Palmer was a nationally recognized soccer coach who was instrumental in the creation of the Club Columbine Soccer Association. Powderhorn Park was the club’s home field. Mr. Palmer died in 1988 and the fields were dedicated to Mr. Palmer in 1989.

From the intersection of S. Simms St. and W. Coal Mine Ave. head east on W. Coal Mine Ave. to the park which is located one block east of S. Simms St. on the north side of W. Coal Mine Ave. A parking lot is available.
